A hot tub filter is a replaceable device full of small pores and fibers that filters water in a hot tub. Dirt, bacteria and other unwanted particles are removed from the water when they pass through the pores and fibers. These particles are trapped in the cartridge. Solid particles, such as debris, can easily be sprayed off using a garden hose. But liquid particles, such as soap film and oil, can be only removed by soaking the filter in chemical filter cleaners. A watering hose should be used for rinsing a filter. You must spray carefully between the filter pleats. Spray water can easily dislodge filters and unclog the porous cartridge, freeing it from algae and bacteria.
Spray cleaning is recommended in rinsing the filter. Never use high water pressure in cleaning the filter. The downward force of water can damage the cartridge. Avoid using cleaning tools such as brush. Do not clean with your hands. Fiber is very delicate.
The hot tub filter ensures a high quality for your hot tub water. A hot tub filter\'s maintenance depends on its size. Small filters can be washed and reused for many times. It takes a long time before you need to replace it. It can be removed easily. The smaller a filter is, the more you need to clean it regularly. Some hot tubs have large filters that are usually built in and takes up a part of the hot tub\'s space. A hot tub filter must be replaced every year, or once it has become worn-out.
Once a filter becomes loaded with dirt, it will not be able to function properly. This is harmful to the hot tub pumps. Pumps will be damaged if dirt and similar contaminants keep on passing through.
A hot tub filter must be cleaned regularly. Clean it every time you change spa water, which should be after every two weeks. If you do not clean it, it can pass contaminants to the new spa water and infect it. Air-dry the filter completely before using it again to kill any bacteria living in it.
Calcium often build up on hot tub filters. This is harmful to the water and it can corrode the metal hot tub pumps. Use small amounts of muriatic acid to remove calcium deposits. After cleaning the filter cartridge, soak it with the muriatic acid mixed with water. Once the bubbling stops, the calcium is removed.
Never use bleach in cleaning filters. Bleach can destroy the fibers in the hot tub filter. Once these fibers weakens, its filtering purpose could no longer be achieved. To avoid replacing filters regularly, use only water in cleaning it.
Never use soap or household cleaning products in cleaning filters. Some filter cartridges are pleated. Do not remove a filter in a running hot tub unless you have another clean and dry filter to replace it.
